ANNOUNCEMENTS
COACHING FOR GOD SCHOLARSHIPS: I am delighted to announce
that I have awarded several coaching scholarships. August 1, 2003,
I will give three more scholarships so if you want to send an application
for the next round, please do so. The deadline for getting an application
to me is July 21, 2003.
These
scholarships are NOT based on financial need. The qualifications
for a scholarship are readiness to make God the center of your life
and willingness to ruthlessly change anything that does not demonstrate
that. If you are ready to have a Coach for God, send me a short
email telling me what you feel makes you an ideal recipient. Speak
your heart to me.
Each
scholarship will include a written inventory, a 90-minute intake
session, and twelve 30-minute coaching sessions (once a week for
three months). The scholarships will rotate and your application
will be kept on file after for the next round unless you want your
name withdrawn. Examine your readiness closely: I am challenging.
I am looking for spiritual anarchists!
Coaching
for personal and spiritual anarchy: Revolutionize your
career or your business. Transform your life. Topple the structures
that no longer serve you and replace them with life-enhancing, joyful
supports. Email thejoycoach@arn.net or call Peggy at 806-358-3904
for a free thirty-minute consultation and details about various
anarchic coaching packages.
Benevolent
anarchy is your course whenever you ruthlessly change anything
within your belief structures, your thoughts and your behaviors
that does not demonstrate the Love that created you. Joy is that
demonstration.
THE
JOY OF NOT KNOWING
(NOTE: I've been thinking about this month's Joygram for ten days
or so and waiting for inspiration. Various topics showed up and
none of them felt zingy. I could have written a few paragraphs about
any of them and inside I was feeling ... well, feeling nothing much.
Day before yesterday I sat down on the sofa with a cup of tea and
thought "I just don't know what to write about!" And Zing! "I'll
write about not knowing!" PJ)
There
are different kinds of not knowing. There is Conscious Intentional
Ignorance. We make almost a virtue of it by saying "What I don't
know won't hurt me" or "Ignorance is bliss". This is a not knowing
that doesn't want to know and, by golly, has no intention of getting
to know because if we know then we might have to do something about
it. As a coach, I see clients hide behind that kind of "I don't
know". This particular not knowing is an obstacle in the path of
personal growth and development.
The
Unconscious side of Intentional Ignorance is unaware of the cost
to us personally and collectively of staying ignorant. It is the
place where we may be embarrassed or ashamed about not knowing something
and are thus unwilling to admit it so that we have an opportunity
to learn.
Both
Conscious and Unconscious Intentional Ignorance are obstacles to
justice and positive social reform. We can address and work to change
conditions in our lives, communities and world only to the extent
that we are aware of them and care about them.
There
is Conscious Disinterested Ignorance. I am simply not interested
in learning about some things, such as the mechanics of a combustion
engine or horse breeding or chess playing. These are choices that
I make not to know at this time.
Then
there is Unintentional Ignorance. This is the not knowing that I
am most intrigued by. When it is Unconscious, it is the possibility
that lives within us of which we are not yet aware. When it becomes
Conscious Unintentional Ignorance, it springs into the not knowing
that was looking for a topic for this month's Joygram. This is the
place where we are open to learn, to expand, to be enriched by new
information, new skills, inner growth. Conscious Unintentional Ignorance
embraces not knowing and says "Show me! Teach me!" with joy and
excitement.
The
next time you hear yourself think or say "I don't know", I hope
you'll wonder what kind of not knowing you're doing. I hope you'll
feel the Joy of evolving each "I don't know" into discovery and
learning.
