ANNOUNCING NEW COACHING FOR GOD SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarships have been a great success, for the recipients and for me. On August 1, 2003, I will give three more scholarships so if you want to send an application for the next round, please do so soon. The deadline for getting an application to me is July 21, 2003. These scholarships are NOT based on financial need. The qualifications are readiness to make God the center of your life and willingness to ruthlessly change anything that does not demonstrate that.

If you want to have a Coach for God, send a short email to Peggy@thejoycoach.com telling me from your heart what you feel makes you an ideal recipient. Each scholarship will include a written inventory, a 90-minute intake session, and twelve 30-minute coaching sessions (once a week for three months). The scholarships will rotate and your application will be kept on file for the next round unless you want your name withdrawn. Examine your readiness closely: I am challenging. I am looking for spiritual revolutionaries who are ready to Get Over It and Get God!

GETTING OVER IT
A new website for The Joy Coach and Coaching for God is in design and construction phase. More about that later.
I've been looking for a simple one-line hook that will create curiosity and call people to action. As a result, I've become rather like the cat who hears blah-blah-blah-blah when someone is talking to them. There were too many ways to say something that's really quite simple...

Get over it.

How many times have you thought that, or said it, when you're tired of hearing stories or excuses or complaints? "Well, you just need to get over it!" Do you suspect that someone may be thinking that you ought to get over it? What exactly does "it" mean? And when you know what it means, how do you do it?

"It" is anything that is getting in your way, holding you back, keeping you stuck, or leading you up a garden path. It is reacting instead of responding. It's playing victim or helpless or stupid. It is the judgments that you hang onto. It is the spin doctor in your mind that never rests and never tells the truth. It's pretending that you don't know or that you're not capable or that it is someone else's fault.

The best way to get over it is to embrace the present moment. Become a child again: Stop. Look. Listen. Become the observer of your mind, your body and your emotions. When you get uncomfortable or unconscious, stop. Look at your feelings, your posture, your behavior. Listen to your thoughts. Are you obsessing about the past or worrying about the future? Then choose again. Stretch. Breathe deeply. Focus on the activity at hand. Meditate. Nap. Recharge.

The second best way to get over it is not to take yourself too seriously.

The only life you have is now. Get over it and get your life.

GUIDES TO GETTING OVER IT
The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle. Eckhart is a modern mystic who has discovered and effectively teaches how to live in the present moment. This is the perfect how-to book for getting over it.

Loving What Is, by Byron Katie. This book is a wonderful guide for undoing and living without judgment. Katie is a masterful teacher.

Radical Forgiveness, by Colin C. Tipping. Another approach to undoing the judgments that hold us in the past and cause us continued pain.

The Art of Possibility, by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander. The Zanders offer twelve transformative practices that are presented in delightful anecdote style. I can't read this one enough: three times so far.

COACHING FOR GOD
In nearly every religious and spiritual tradition, the Divine - which I am choosing to call God - promises guidance, wholeness, sustenance and protection. Coaching for God provides you with a safe space to explore your beliefs about God, to discover where you are unconscious to the Sacred presence, and to wake up to living your life at one with the Divine. Coaching for God is non-doctrinal. I am an ordained non-denominational minister and a long-time student of A Course in Miracles.
